Their mission

For every child, the chance to be a child.

Founded in 1959, Childhelp is one of the oldest and largest nonprofits in the United States focused on the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse. Their work meets the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of children who have been hurt — and works upstream to make sure fewer ever are.

Their residential treatment villages, foster care and adoption services, advocacy centers, group homes, therapeutic schools, and prevention programs reach children in nearly every U.S. state. The 24/7 National Child Abuse Hotline alone has answered more than 11 million calls.

For us at ZenZest, the partnership is personal. We're a family-owned New York business. The same neighborhoods we serve are home to kids Childhelp protects every day — and we'd rather build that ecosystem with our neighbors than around them.

How it works

Backpack drives & events, on the calendar.

Childhelp drives don't sit in a back office — they happen at the front desk of our Queens store on Union Tpke, the 3rd week of every month, Monday through Saturday. (Staten Island joins soon.) Here's the simple shape of a drive, from the moment you walk in to the moment a kid opens their backpack.

01
We host the drive

Every month, the 3rd week (Monday through Saturday), our Queens store on Union Tpke turns its lobby into a Childhelp collection point. Drop-off bins sit at the front desk during all open hours — walk in any time during the window.

02
Neighbors fill backpacks

Customers and walk-in neighbors bring new backpacks, notebooks, hygiene kits, and gift cards. We provide the list of most-needed items at the door and online.

03
Childhelp delivers care

Childhelp picks up the donations and routes them through their residential, foster, and advocacy programs so they reach kids who need them — directly, fast, and dignified.
